Whispering Pines was established as an energetic and innovative adventure campsite, in a quiet Himalayan hamlet called Thangdhar in 2002. Since then this brand has been a benchmark of personalised services, responsible eco tourism and safe adventure sports in the entire Mussoorie – Dhanolti – Tehri region.

The flagship lifestyle adventure retreat was founded by Treks ‘n Rapids (P) Ltd, an internationally present and India’s leading adventure sports and experiential learning company. Treks ‘n Rapids, founded by the alumni of NMIMS Mumbai and Harvard Business School and Voted India’s Number One Adventure Sports Company, three times in a row (2005/06/07; Source IITR Thomso) is a highly professional team comprising of individuals with rich academic and varied national and international professional experience, in the areas of business management, consulting, hospitality , media, adventure sports and eco tourism.

In Jan 2010, Whispering Pines was migrated to company’s self owned sprawling premise, spread over an entire hillock, at a higher altitude and amidst stunning natural landscapes of Jwarna close to Dhanolti, at the base of revered shrine Surkanda Devi. In its new avatar Whispering Pines leaves little to be desired for any true nature (or adventure, or wellness and spirituality, or family holiday) lover!

The company also runs a one of its kind luxury campsite and lifestyle wellness retreat called Aranyam, at Mohanchatti close to Rishikesh. In addition to this, the company owns and is in a process of developing multiple, adventure and wellness focussed retreats in the Himalayas and Sahyadri range in Western India.

At the same time we believed that eco friendly and adventure holidays should not be synonyms and easy excuse for uncomfortable stay, bad food and harsh living conditions. Without fiddling with nature, without taking away the charm and peace that this magical Himalayan kingdom brings in, Whispering Pines provides for stay in comfortable Super Deluxe Safari Tents, Deluxe Safari Tents and Dome/Alpine Tents (subject to plan), all with high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and comfort.

	We are proud of our impeccable safety record and we ensure that it remains so by strict adherence to international safety standards, UIAA approved adventure gear and equipment, involving trained and certified activity instructors (Advanced Level Certified from NIM Uttarkashi and HMI Darjeeling). The company is a also a member of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, The International Eco Tourism Society and International Mountain Bicycling Association, and duly follows the standards as laid down by such bodies

	ENVIRONMENT SENSITIVITY
	Our efforts on environmental conservation and ecology protection include strict adherence to the eco-code. All the fire log utilized for bonfire etc. are officially bought from the relevant authorities / authorized vendors. Not even a branch of a live tree is broken unofficially. Various corporate groups, families, international travelers and school groups are sensitized and encouraged in eco sensitivity tasks like cleaning up of the forest areas, from time to time. Utilisation of Solar Energy, Rain Water Harvesting, Organic Farming and Responsible Disposal of garbage are integral parts of our operations.

	RESPONSIBILITY TO THE SOCIETY
	Whispering Pines is proud of its endeavors to fulfill the responsibilities towards the society. Employment of trained youth from the region in retreat operations and sourcing most of the supplies like vegetables, transportation services, food grains, milk, etc. locally. Whispering Pines has also been involved in various philanthropic projects in the area. In 2003, Treks ‘n Rapids (P) Ltd organised the first ever adventure based camping programme for Special Children at Whispering Pines. In 2008, Whispering Pines sponsored education of poor and needy children from the area. In 2010, Whispering Pines intends to join hands with the NGO – Pure Pahari and take up issues like vocational handicrafts, organic farming, organised marketing of Apple and other agricultural produce of the area so as to avoid the exploitation of local farmers by middle-men, education etc.
